Lockdown Distractions

Lockdown continues.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. I would much rather remain in lockdown than have everything reopen too soon and cause a second peak of this devastating virus.

Having said that, I know that I am sometimes finding it hard to keep myself occupied, and as someone who lives with mental illness, this can be dangerous. When I have too much time on my hands, and not enough to keep me reasonably occupied, it can give intrusive thoughts more of an opportunity to strike and send me into a tailspin.

Now I’m definitely not jumping on the “you must be productive during lockdown” bandwagon – quite the opposite. I actually think that this lockdown gives us the opportunity to slow down, take care of ourselves, and catch up on some much-needed rest.

However, if you’re like me and find that distractions can be a useful tool in managing your mental health, you may be starting to find yourself at a bit of a loss, what with being confined to the same four walls every day.

So, I’ve put together a list of Lockdown Distractions in various categories to help give some prompts or ideas about activities we can do to keep our minds pleasantly occupied. Feel free to dismiss any that don’t sound good to you, or alter and adapt these ideas to fit your needs. Maybe this list will spark your own ideas, and that’s great too!
