Hi! I’m Hazel.
I’m a bookworm, writer, and librarian in training. I occasionally have thoughts coherent enough to share… and many that probably should have stayed in the drafts.
When I’m not reading, writing, or librarying, I can usually be found exploring weird internet rabbit-holes, making lists, spamming my loved ones with memes, or spoiling my cats, Anna and Elsa.
I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Condition in 2023 at the age of 32 and ADHD at the age of 35. I have lived experience of mental illness, chronic physical illness, disability, and recovering from alcoholism. I speak openly about these topics, both as a form of healing, and in the hope of offering insight and solidarity to those with similar experiences and those who support them.
My special interests include learning, collecting information, libraries and books.
I have worked in mental health, education, and library services.
This website spent over four years as thepatchworkfox.com. It began as a mental health blog, based on my lived experience of mental illness and chronic physical illness. It then evolved to include a wider range of content, such as:
- books
- self-care
- disability
- poetry
- + much more!
I accept book review requests from authors and publishers, and post my reviews primarily on Goodreads. I am open to requests for full blog post reviews, subject to terms and conditions.
I hope that this blog will continue to grow and branch out into new, interesting areas.
