As an introverted homebody, I spend a lot of time on YouTube.
It can be something of a rabbit-hole; you start off watching a music video of your favourite song, then four hours later you’re watching The Top 10 Most Haunted Rides at Disneyland…
But I digress.
I watch a variety of videos on a variety of channels, but there are five channels that I particularly like.
Note: This list was last updated in June 2025.

Strange Aeons
Teya, aka Strange Aeons, aka Strange, aka Mister Father Strange, etc etc etc… consistently delivers insightful and hilarious content. Teya’s strength lies in her deep dives into internet culture, particularly the weird and wonderful world of Tumblr. Her videos are meticulously researched, providing fascinating anthropological analyses of fandoms, internet phenomena, and historical oddities with a sharp wit and engaging storytelling. As a fellow neurodivergent queer millennial who used to be obsessed with Tumblr, her commentary evokes a sense of nostalgia that is strangely (lol) comforting.
What makes Strange Aeons so special is Teya’s unique perspective and charm. She tackles complex or niche topics with witty clarity, making them accessible and entertaining for everyone. Whether she’s dissecting infamous fanfiction sagas or exploring bizarre internet trends, Teya’s passion for her subjects shines through, making her channel a must-watch for anyone who loves clever commentary and a good laugh. Also, her cats are adorable.
Pasta Coma
Josie, aka Pasta Coma, is a YouTuber with over 82,000 subscribers and 40 videos. She focuses on relatable struggles, often filming herself doing tasks she has been procrastinating, such as doing an entire college semester in 3 days, chaotically running errands, or cleaning her messy room. Her editing style is hilarious, and she has a way of making viewers feel less alone in their own chaos. She also runs a second channel called leftover pasta.
Rewilding Jude
Jude shares his experiences and insights into rewilding and nature connection, particularly since his move to the Scottish countryside. His content explores the practical and philosophical aspects of living more harmoniously with nature, offering a blend of personal anecdotes, practical tips, and reflections on the importance of biodiversity and sustainability. Jude’s videos often document his own journey of adapting to and learning from his new environment, making his channel a valuable resource for anyone interested in rewilding, ecological restoration, or simply finding inspiration in the natural world.
The Internet Investigator
This one is a bit dark, so I’d advise caution before watching videos on this channel. It’s definitely NSFW. I personally find the topics fascinating, albeit disturbing. The channel offers a deep dive into a variety of unsettling topics, from strange occurrences, to true crime, to dark internet phenomena. What I appreciate most is the well-researched nature of the videos and the engaging way the information is presented. While the subject matter can be grotesque, the channel’s analytical approach and commitment to exploring these topics make it a compelling watch for anyone fascinated by the darker side of the internet and the mysteries it holds.
Noor Jasmine
Noor is a true-crime and conspiracy theory YouTuber based in the US. Though she famously wears a tinfoil hat (it’s a running gag on her channel), her content is always well-researched, backed up with sources, and she clearly separates the facts of the stories from her own personal theories. I find the stories she covers very interesting and I think she does a good job of staying balanced when it comes to unsolved cases.
